Today received rest of books from this series and once again I can tell that this is not the company you want to use for prep. The idea is good, but implementation is very poor. Why would they put false and misleading information on cover is a question. Number of questions they state is not in place, some teacher recommended and they put it on cover. Very few problems per page. Paper quality is very bad, plus rest of books came wrapped. Totally disappointed.

I purchased these math books to help my kids stay on top of curriculum in school. Unfortunately, my experience with these workbooks has been far from pleasant. It's very frustrating when there are mistakes and typos in a book especially for a child. A child is supposed to learn from good examples and now my child is even more confused on some topics. Not many questions per page so not many questions compared to Spectrum or other books. If this company fixes the ridiculous mistakes in the book, it would be satisfactory.

Disappointed is just easy said. I was so happy when saw new materials available out there. I am a retired teacher/tutor with 10 years of experience. I tried these books with my students and we found countless number of mistakes. Some books even had print issues, several books were printed up-side-down. I will not use it anymore as it is not what I have expected. Just spent $150 for nothing.

The book is very thorough covering all the topics of common core including various types of word problems.The questions are neatly printed and adequately spaced out so that the students can show their work.My daughter really enjoys solving the problems in this workbook.

Ordered sample copies of each grade to check it and place bigger order for whole school. But after checking it, I will return these books. Found lots of wrong information, structure of the book seemed confusing, and some questions are really too hard for a particular grade. Will not use these books for our school 100%.

Good material for common core. Challenging and interesting questions. Some questions have multiple parts which is a good practice for performance tasks tested in common core exams. I don’t see any issues with the questions. They are all good.

Very different than other books available for 2nd grade. Several word problems and explanations-type questions.

It had the right level of challenge for a 2nd grader. This book is quite a value for the money. It has neat illustrations and good explanation for the answers. Would definitely recommend.

Although I am an anarchist, Lenin's work is useful in understanding the origins of the state in class society. From the irreconcilable class antagonisms that exist under class societies and the necessity of the state to enforce private property under capitalism, the democratic bourgeois republic emerges alongside the capitalist mode of production. Lenin argued that a Vanguard Party of the proletariat should be mobilized to increase revolutionary class consciousness among the working class, the state machinery of consumer society should be broken up and seized by the proletariat, a democratic dictatorship of the proletariat should use the state to combat reaction by the bourgeoisie, and that the elimination of class hierarchy would lead to the "withering away" of the state. Although Lenin's words resonate well, historically, his actions and words did not match, and overall, I favor anarchism and I would recommend reading Bakunin, Kropotkin, Goldman, Stirner, Proudhon, Bookchin, etc.

Did I like the book? No, of course not. What's to like about the Socialists/Communists ideology that has killed millions? However it will give you an excellent glimpse into the minds of today's Socialists or Social Democrats. Lenin's constant use of destructive and violent language sounds like current liberal politics. There's class hate, SJW-ish smash and crush, armed revolution and dictatorship with the sole purpose fundamentally transforming society even if it requires the deaths of millions.Now that history has recorded the outcome of the words of Marx and Lenin only a dangerous fool would think any of their ideas have merit.

A very insightful read - whether or not one agrees with Lenin's expectations for a Marxist economic system, his views on taking charge of your government's program is as relevant to us today as it was for him then.

Show your not an opportunist or a petty bourgeoisie by reading this book. Its a pretty nice look into Lenin's perspective on the state and what should happen to it in the event of a proletariat revolution ,although i feel he spends a bit to much time combating other socialist works and viewpoints instead of expanding on his own.

The confrontational style used in the book, tells a lot about how Lenin thought not only on the matter of the State but overall on social organization. I share many of his views but have found the book too narrow in his foundations, he enshrines Marx and Engels without ever debating their philosophy and work, and diminishes his opponents usually with name calling which tends to strawman them and not take seriously in consideration their arguments. Totally recommend, so that people start to see the man behind the myth.

Lenin explains his program in great detail. A very useful reference point in this respect. However at times possibly too much detail. A bit repetitive in places. It was translated 100 years ago, so some of the expressions ate no longer in common usage.

This was a fun read; I especially enjoyed all the jumping off points that I found in this book. While I know a great deal about information theory, my knowledge of physics and quantum mechanics and the histories is significantly limited and I found so many other fun books to chase down as a result of reading this.The quantum entanglement at the end seemed a bit out of bounds, perhaps too much of a stretch, but I got a lot out of this. The author's style reminds me of Gleick but more technical, which was fine.

This book is very fascinating. I think the most interesting part is a section that explains why quantum variability (such as superimposed states) are never observed on our ordinary level of sensation. My only complaint is that the book largely ignores the most interesting philosophical question lurking around much of the topics of this book: what is the mind, and how and why is it different from the physical world? It's certainly possible that the mind is nothing more than a brain, although this view currently fails to explain consciousness (I'm sorry, but information processing alone doesn't equal consciousness, and it never will!). And as Seife points out in this book, animal brains show no evidence of being quantum computers. As far as entropy is concerned, one of the largest sources of unexplained entropy (new information) is human creativity. A key question is, does this violate the physicists hypothesis that information is constant? It may not, but it's at least plausible that living creatures (and more importantly minds) create and expand information. From a philosophical perspective, this ultimately the most important question about Information.

The author has a degree in probability theory and artificial intelligence, but he is a professor of journalism and has therefore written a book which is both very entertaining and not too difficult to understand. The subject is information, which Seife claims is the third XXth century revolution in physics started by Claude Shannon and which has relations with the other two: Relativity and Quantum Mechanics.Of course, information is also related to thermodynamics and entropy, so the book contains a discussion of all these topics: thermodynamics, relativity and quantum mechanics. Famous conundrums such as Schroedinger's cat, entanglement, Maxwell's demon, etc. are analyzed from the point of view of information theory.Here are some snippets of the book:According to Seife, Einstein dictum "Nothing can travel faster than light" is really about information:" Information speed cannot exceed c". Another interesting fact is that what really causes computers to heat is the erasure of bits.Seife describes recent achievements and experiments, proof that he is familiar with the latest results. One curious example is the solution of "the knight problem" in 2000 by using a DNA computer! Another one is that the entire human race has less genetic diversity than a few scores of chimps due to some kind of cataclysm about 500,000 years ago. A third one is the 1996 experiment demonstrating the existence of virtual particles (the so called Casimir effect).In chapter 7, quantum computers are introduced and the possibility of the brain being one is briefly discussed. Unfortunately, it seems that Max Tegmark proved Roger Penrose wrong on this count. You begin to understand the power of quantum computation when the author describes Grover's algorithm to guess a number out of 16. Classically you need four yes/no answers to four questions. Grover manages the same task with two. Quantum computation reduces the complexity of some problems from n to square root of n.I found also very interesting the reasons why the photoelectric effect cannot be explained by waves. On the other hand, interference cannot be explained by a corpuscular theory of light, so we are stuck with duality.Towards the end, the author discusses black holes and the holographic principle: the quantity of information contained in a ball is not limited by its volume (surprisingly), but by its area. Since most cosmologists consider now the universe infinite (inflation seems to imply this) we are led, via the holographic bound, to the conclusion that the universe contains infinite copies of our own bubble universe. Seife admits that this is the most bizarre thing among the many ones described in his book.

This is a very interesting and well written book that shows the remarkable connection between thermodynamics and information theory which goes a long way toward explaining some of the stranger and more perplexing aspects of quantum theory, and black holes.
