Look...there's gonna be spoilers cus I need 2 express an emotion. I'm at about 53% into the book. Milena's character by this point has been kidnapped, physically abused, she's still dealing with the death of her mother prior 2 that. She's seen her captors killed. Introduced 2 a sexual tension she's never felt b4 by not 1 but 2 hot men, and also, remember she's only 18 & apparently a virgin. But wait, I'm not done, she didn't know about the supernatural b4, so she sees the MC turn into a werewolf amidst all the above, y'all readers still with me? Ok, so she's being drugged 2 help heal her, while kept in this drugged out state, her dreams are invaded, her mind is manipulated, her memory is changed. When she surfaces frm that she's met by a gorgeous arrogant female werewolf who has orders 2 bathe her! Think about that 4 a sec y'all, so of course it doesn't play out well, she's badly injured again but also comes 2 realize that woman was killed as a consequence. And no she didn't know that would be the result of her actions. Remember she's still young and doesn't have the life experience to handle all she's dealt with so far. Now, she's coming out of another drugged state, the male MC has decided he wants her after previously telling this girl & anyone else in hearing distance, he wants nothing 2 do with her. Now he wants 2 NEGOTIATE with this girl now.....right now, after she just woke up at his urging. The author has us, the reader, watch what SHOULD be a traumatized 18 yr old NEGOTIATE with a centuries older man to give him a chance to GET 2 KNOW HER...?..!...after scary her, violating her mind & memories..(wordless sputtering on my part)....So, yeah, this is where my disgust, frustration, utter disbelief prevented me frm continuing b4 I voiced my reaction 2 other readers 2 get their response.Need a time out b4 I decide if I'll finish 2 find out how it ends. ☹😕😒ðŸ¤
Wow can you say whip lash. I have mixed feeling on this book, I liked it and then I didn't. But I definitely want to finish the rest of the series. The book was entertaining. The book was told in the first person POV of the heroine and half the time she was unconsciousness and didn't talk. Milena acts like a cry baby child. And don't get me started on Alex. He is or pretends to be a cold-hearted alpha wolf, but he does have a soft side. One of my pet peeves is cheating. If he thought she was his mate and he still had sex with someone that looks just like her, and he rubs it in her face. Here is what really made me bad, he cheats on her while she is unconscious and fight to stay alive, who does that. I can't stand Alex at all. I hope in the next book he can show a better side of himself. He is a controlling, manipulated. ******* I would rather see Milena with Alcaeus. Now that was a sweet sexy wolf right there. Overall the book had it up and down for me.
This book was hard to review. While overall I wanted to like the book, it was just hard to read. First off, it seems like the author just used a thesaurus to find the “smartest†words to write. I read a lot and I promise you I’m not uneducated. But seriously every other page there was a word used that I had no idea what it meant. Plus she kept using words like cranium instead of just saying head. It was just a strange way to write a book. My worst complaint tho is that I hate when the H sleeps with other women after he meets the h. He even went so far as to kiss and fondle another woman in front of the h just to make her jealous. That’s just my own pet peeve. That all being said, it wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read.
What makes this book so good isn’t just the unbelievably hot scenes, good writing and fresh story lines. It’s also how ALL the characters are interesting—not just the main couple. Even when Alex and Milena aren’t in the same scene together, those werelocks carry the story. They’re scene stealers—all of them.Milena’s hilarious--often unintentionally. I love the things that go through her head. She’s not very worldly or experienced, but she isn’t stupid or silly. Her youth and inexperience may show at times, but that’s what makes her so endearing.Milena may be young, but Alex is immature. He can also be selfish and cruel, which will make it all the more rewarding as he falls for Milena. He can be adorable and charming, like when he juggled kitchen utensils and vegetables at werelock speed while wearing a chef’s hat and 8-pack abs. But he keeps reverting back to being an a-hole.Some of the reviewers are put off by it having cliffhangers. Don't be. Each book in this series is full sized-- over 300 pages each. Despite not being a standalone, the ending is satisfying--especially the fallout from the awesomely-disastrous, garden-party orgy. Book 2 Fear the Heart (Werelock Evolution Book 2) is even better.
